Sometimes, in the midst of great joy and happiness-- there is a bit of sadness. As Joy Davidson Lewis said to her soon to be bereaved husband C.S. Lewis, "The happiness now is part of the sadness then. The sadness then is part of the happiness now." - Shadowlands.
I say that because in the middle of our Thanksgiving festivities we received a call letting us all know that my husband's grandmother, and my dear mother in love's mother had passed away. I grieve, not because I knew her so well, but because of the pain my hubby and mother in love are experiencing right now. I grieve also because, unlike his other grandmother, this one was not (to my knowledge) a believer.
I find this troubling on many different levels. At any rate... there is still much to be thankful for... and I hope you will understand if it is difficult for me to be online much in this next week.
Thank you!

Thankful Thursday!
Today I am thankful:
For nearly 16 years of wedded bliss with the man I adore, it'll be 16 tomorrow!
For my daughter, and her tender heart.
For my son, and his drive, ambition and conscientiousness
For the knowledge that "today is not that day". If you've read the blog... you know what I mean!
For the crisp cold air this a.m., for the warmth of the coffee as I wrap my hands around my mug.
For the work that I and dh have.

Finally 4k Finish Line Photos!!
Remember when I ran the 4k in June??? And I promised finish line photos and then got busy and didn't post them???
(Hangs head in shame)
This is my son and I, at the finish...
below is my dd and I. He is much more willing to be photographed after running than his sister.

She is not happy about having her picture taken in running wear. Her hair is a mess, and she is hot and sweaty... but because I insisted... she agreed.
I think she looks just fine, don't you???
