Rummage Sales Are...

a bargain hunter's delight... and when it's for a good cause, even more so! We went to the Tip Of the Tail rummage yesterday. Proceeds benefit the Humane Society, and go to the care and upkeep of sheltered pets there.

We got our idiot dog, Bandit, there 6 years ago. At the time, he was 6 mos. old, and had some jumping issues. The family who had had him couldn't keep him because he was jumping on their very young kids. Fortunately, our children were older.

He wasn't fully potty trained when we got him, but now is... he also can sit, lay down, roll over, shake, play fetch, and will stop and sit at each street corner when we walk him. He's a member of the family, and we do spoil him a bit.

Anyway... here's the score... two oversize coffee mugs with saucers -- soon to become herb planters and thus a Christmas gift for my family. A book ds wanted, a beautiful linen embroidered piece of artwork framed, a cd, some antique Christmas ornaments (my weakness-- I collect them!) and homemade dog biscuits... all for only $20.00. Plus... it goes to a great cause!

So... that was yesterdays bargains...

How do you tell...

the person who raised you that they cannot live in the old homestead anymore?

It appears that my Mom continues to be confused post stroke, and is still seeing and hearing things that aren't there. This, coupled with impulse control issues, makes it a no brainer for an assisted living facility. Better still, all family members are in agreement. Praise God!

Unfortunately, the question is... who will bell the cat? Who tells Mom? She's working very hard in therapy with the understanding that she'll be home in two weeks. Honestly, are we lying to her by omission? I think so. I'm very afraid that she will be heartbroken to learn that isn't the case.

So... if you're inclined to pray... keep it going!

Be Blessed!

Thank God for Endorphins!

You know... those happy little hormone thingies you get after working out...? Well, I am coming to depend on them. Things with my Mom, and my family (not immediate, mind you) are becoming highly rocky.

I think that if I didn't have my running or exercise, I'd be very sad, and pretty dysfunctional right now. Fortunately, I do have that! And, again, Thank God for it! What a blessing that He created us in such a way that if we work out, and take care of ourselves we manufacture our own anti-depressants. Now, I'm not looking down on people who need modern medical help... just praising Him for His design of us in general.

Plans for today... celebrate the 4th. Call Mom at the rehabilitation center (she had a stroke, near as they can tell without doing an MRI which they can't because of the aneurism clips).

Be Blessed!
